This violin is made with European tone wood, and is highly decorated with inlays on the back. Any decoration to the spruce top could be detrimental to the sound. It is standard full size with a 14 inch body length. The varnish is will based on a spirit ground, then a spirit top layer for polishing. As in any new instrument I am enjoying going back and forth between playing and tweaking for a better sound and feel. The tone wood was purchased in 1984 and was probably ten years from being harvested.
