Sometimes I just work with shapes and gestures. One viewer said that this might be growing in the ocean, which is fine with me. This satinwood comes from Sri Lanka, and I have been told that chips of the wood are burned as incense to give one a relaxed feeling. My hand carving is never fast enough to produce smoke, but cutting it with a saw produces an aroma somewhat like cocoa butter. This piece stands 11 inches tall.
