Description
The cherry and walnut for this chair were locally harvested and wild dried. The St. Louis Arch was the inspiration for the back of the chair. It was easy to rout under the seat cross pieces to make the joints stronger. But in the back each piece was doweled to the next while gluing all the pieces together, so that cannot be seen. In my shop I have used a large slab of granite to check for flatness of violin, viola and cello ribs. So that stone is now perfect for checking the evenness of chair and table legs. Tung oil finish leaves a natural look to the grain of the wood.
