Description

These penholders are made from cherry and  mosaic cut from brazilian cherry, (not related to domestic cherry). The mosaic is cut from two squares of the brazilian cherry with the grain going 90 degrees from each other. After a series of cuts and gluing the result is that each tiny piece has it’s grain 90 degrees from it’s neighbor. Slowly turning the piece it appears to be three dimensional with a depth of fascinating reflections of light. The body of the piece appears that a polished cube of cherry has been twisted. The method of cutting the mosaic results in a positive and negative, hence two similar pieces.
