Sculpture hand carved from osage orange branch.

Description

A dear old friend, now gone, visited me one day, perhaps 30 years ago, dragging a large log of hedge apple wood, otherwise known as osage orange up my driveway. So many years later I cut it is half and made this carving. The rich colors and beautiful grain lines made this sculpture a pleasure to work on. Those that may not know this tree have seen it by the side of a road bearing fruit that looks like a large apple covered with shiny green bumps.
