A small relief carving on sycamore, with a South American lacewood frame.

Description

The carving was done with sycamore and a lacewood frame. It was an attempt to give a vision of real depth although the carving is not much more than a millimeter deep. The majority of the work was with tiny steel scrapers. I chose sycamore as it has a beautiful fleck in the grain without displaying its own shapes such as oak or any curly wood, thereby distracting from my carving. Not only is it untitled at this point, but I enjoy it upside down or on either side.
